The new textile policy of Tamil Nadu will be aligned to strengthen Tiruppur’s high standing in value-chain in apparel business, Dharmendra Pratap Yadav, Principal Secretary, Handlooms, Handicrafts, Textiles and Khadi Department, said here on Wednesday.
Tiruppur is looking at 20% growth in garment exports this financial year, said A. Sakthivel, chairman of the India Knit Fair Association.
A meeting has been organised at the Tiruppur Exporters’ Association (TEA) as initiated by president K.M. Subramanian with a view to increasing the domestic production and marketing of knitwear garments. TEA domestic sub-committee chairman Prem Aggarwal was present at this meeting along with expert and domestic manufacturers.
In a recent statement, A Sakthivel, in-charge of the Apparel Export Promotion Council (Southern Region), reported a substantial increase in knitwear exports from Tiruppur.
Knitwear exports from Tiruppur increased by Rs 400 crore in the quarter ending July, said A Sakthivel, in-charge of the Apparel Export Promotion Council (Southern Region), on Friday. Speaking to TNIE, Sakthivel said, "India's apparel exports grew by 13.8 % in July. Exports from Tiruppur rose to around Rs 400 crore. Tiruppur's exports to the USA, Australia, Korea, Japan and Europe are on the rise."
The India Knit Fair Association (IKFA) will organise the 51st edition of knitwear exhibition in Tiruppur on the theme “Preserving Our Planet by Innovation and Circularity” next month.
