Under the initiative of the Domestic Sub-Committee and Man-Made Fibre (MMF) Sub-Committee of Tiruppur Exporters’ Association (TEA), an interaction was held recently with the Entrepreneurs from Surat, a large production centre of synthetic fabrics and garments in India.

Raman Megotia, President, South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce-Knitting Association, Suresh Megotia of Angan Prints Pvt. Ltd Piyush Bhaiya, Ankit Jain of Krishna Dyeing and Printing Mills and Nirav Raman Megotia of Daya Tex Industries Pvt Ltd visited spinning, knitting, dyeing, printing and garmenting production centres of Tiruppur Cluster and then visited the Tiruppur Exporters’ Association to meet the exporters.

Subramanian, President of TEA presided over the event. Elangovan, Vice President, Thirukkumaran, General Secretary, Kumar Duraiswamy, Joint Secretary, Arun Ramasamy, Chairman, TEA-MMF Sub-Committee, Sunilkumar, Vice Chairman, Prem Aggarwal, Chairman, TEA-Domestic Sub-Committee along Executive Committee, Advisory Committee Members, Special Invitees and Member Exporters participated.

Arun Ramasamy in his welcome address, said that this is the right time for the joint venture between Tirupur-Surat to increase the MMF garment manufacturing in Tiruppur. Subramanian in his keynote address said that currently Tiruppur cluster has Rs. 35000 crore export turnover and Rs. 25000 crore domestic trade totalling a volume of Rs. 60000 crore and he requested the cooperation of Surat Entrepreneurs to achieve the association’s target of One Lakh crore turnover. Sunilkumar shared his experiences in manufacturing MMF garments.

Piyush Bhaiya, Raman Megotia and Suresh Megotia in their speech appreciated Tiruppur’s manufacturing capacity and involvement in green garment production. They said that out of 1,20,000 crore trade in Surat city, only 5000 crore is exported and they sought the cooperation of the Tiruppur Exporters’ Association to increase the export volume.

They assured that any kind of knitwear related to MMF could be manufactured and supplied from Surat to Entrepreneurs of Tiruppur. They clarified the doubts raised by the participants regarding the production of MMF fabrics.
