The Tamil Nadu–Taiwan Technical Textile Partnership Summit, jointly hosted by the Confederation of Indian Industry and the Tiruppur Exporters’ Association, will be held at Le Meridien, Coimbatore, on July 21, 2025. The two-day event aims to foster collaboration in man-made fibres (MMF) and technical textiles between Tamil Nadu and Taiwan.

The Federation of Indian Export Organisations organised an awareness programme on Tuesday for garment exporters in Tiruppur on export benefit schemes of the Central government.

Annual garment exports from Tiruppur and Coimbatore districts in 2024-25 financial year touched ₹45,000 crore, according to data available with the Tiruppur Exporters’ Association (TEA).

Knitwear manufacturers of Tiruppur are gleeful as they believe that the ban imposed by the central government on the import of ready-made garments from Bangladesh through land ports will lead to the growth of domestic production in Tiruppur.

Tiruppur knitwear sector exported goods worth Rs 40,000 crore in the last fiscal, 2024-25, thus achieving a 20% growth over the Rs 33,400-crore mark of the previous fiscal, 2023-24. The exports surpassed the estimated 10 percent growth rate and is expected to grow 15 percent in the current financial year.  

The Tiruchi Preventive Customs Commissionerate and the Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) have developed and launched “Thunaivan”, a portal to facilitate trade for garment exporters in Tiruppur.
