New Delhi: After taking a big hit from falling rate of economic growth in 2019, the job market may remain muted in the new year as well in terms of workforce expansion and salary hikes as more and more companies are expected to prefer up-skilling of existing staff rather than hiring new ones, experts feel.

Kolkata, Dec 20 (UNI) Union Minister of Textiles and Women and Child Development, Smriti Zubin Irani on Friday said that textiles ministry has expanded the skill development programme, called Samarth, for the entire value chain of the textiles sector in organized sector which are being trained under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, with a target of 10 lakh persons.

Over 500 participants, including a number of local textile and clothing companies, are expected to attend the Annual Textile ETP Conference and General Assembly, to be held during April 28-30, 2020 in Portugal.

NEW DELHI: The government may allow companies undergoing resolution under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC) to pay current levies of goods and services tax (GST) without the mandatory payment of past dues. This will remove a hurdle in the bankruptcy resolution process.
