NEW DELHI: Traders body CAIT on Sunday suggested the government to impose a "minimum operating price" for products, alleging that traders are at the receiving end of a pricing onslaught posed by e-commerce firms and brands in collusion with banks.

The textiles minister’s ‘Samarth’ scheme focusses on addressing skill gaps in apparel and garmenting, knitting, metal handicraft, textile and handloom, handicrafts, carpets, etc., in 18 Indian states.

The government is drawing up plans to streamline existing schemes for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), with an aim to combat liquidity crisis, low professional exposure, and low skills that the sector continues to face.

The GST Council approved a new simplified GST return format in its 27th Council meeting. The new GST return aims at enhancing transparency and accuracy of the return filing process. The Council has decided that the new return filing system will be implemented from April 2020.

On October 31, a panel constituted under the World Trade Organisation’s (WTO’s) dispute settlement mechanism issued a ruling in response to a complaint filed by the US government against Indian export incentive schemes.
