Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said the textile sector is key in realising a self-reliant India, and added that his government is particularly focussing on skills upgradation, financial assistance and integrating the sector with latest technology.
The government will soon announce the much-awaited new National Textile Policy entailing a “futuristic” strategy and action plan for India to unleash its full potential and become globally competitive in the sector, a top official has said.
A local online platform for trading garment items was launched yesterday to help international suppliers and retailers meet exporters directly and facilitate verification of work orders digitally.
But it’s too early to rejoice, warn exporters; imports continue to dip
