The Tiruppur textile industry, a key player in India's knitwear exports, has rebounded after a challenging period. In the first five months of the 2024-25 financial year, exports surged by 13%, with August alone witnessing a remarkable 22% increase. This growth follows an 11% decline in exports during the previous fiscal year due to global disruptions, Business Standard reported.
After experiencing an 11 per cent contraction in exports in 2023-24 (FY24) due to a dip in exports for 10 consecutive months from April to January, the Tiruppur textile industry is back on track in 2024-25 (FY25).
