TIRUPATI: Taking exception to the network-related glitches in the implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST), the sales tax practitioners took out a rally in the temple city on Friday to vent their ire.
Members under the banner of ‘The Tirupati Tax Practitioners and Consultants Association’ took out a rally from NTR Circle, which passed through Balaji Colony and West church compound to reach the GST Central Commissioner’s Office at Tarigonda Vengamamba Circle, where a representation was submitted to the Additional Commissioner K. Veerabhadra Reddy. The rally further continued up to the state GST tax office on Annamaiah Marg, where similar representations were presented to the assistant commissioners.
Speaking on the occasion, the association President T. Srinivasulu Reddy explained how the traders as well as the tax practitioners had been facing tough time due to network related glitches. They blamed the poor network for causing inordinate delay, due to which the practitioners had to spend a chunk of the day in front of the computer systems, while the traders end up paying late fee or fine, for no fault of theirs. While welcoming GST, they pointed to the systemic flaws as the irritants and demanded that the server capacity be enhanced on a war-footing to relieve them of the ‘nightmare’.
Secretary N. Harinath, honorary President S. Mahaboob Basha, joint secretary M.A. Muneer Ahmed and treasurer R. Munikrishnaiah took part.
