Business Bureau : Union Minister for MSME, Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Sunday said that the participation of women entrepreneurs in country’s MSME sector is growing. He was interacting with the organisers of the Swayampurna Expo 2020 being held here. Gadkari visited the expo to boost the morale of women entrepreneurs.
Gadkari visited all the stalls and appreciated the efforts of women for their outstanding work and contribution in MSME sector. Government of India Ministry of MSME MSME-DI Nagpur in association with Swayampurna Bahu-Udheshiya Sanstha Nagpur organised four-day “Swayampurna EXPO 2020” at Jerys Lawn Nagpur to showcase the products manufactured exclusively by women entrepreneurs. The objective of expo and industrial exhibition was to provide marketing platform to the women entrepreneurs making unique products and to support them to explore market.
The event also covered various sessions by bankers, Nabard, successful women entrepreneurs. On the fourth day of the expo, a session by Western Coalfields Ltd (WCL) Nagpur, a central public sector enterprise, is organised to explore the possibilities to provide platform to women entrepreneurs under central public procurement policy my MSME-DI Nagpur. The policy mandates three percent procurement out of total annual procurement of any central ministries and CPSUs from women entrepreneurs. The exhibition providing very good platform to women entrepreneurs to scale up there moral to expand, contribute and strengthen themselves in society.
P M Parlewar, Director MSME-DI Nagpur, explained him about the capacity of women entrepreneurs having been developed under their guidance as a result this expo came to be organised. Gadkari said that such expo exclusively for women entrepreneurs is good initiative and needs to be organised on large scale so that more and more women can get this marketing platform for their products and new women will get motivated to become entrepreneurs. Kanchan Nitin Gadkari, President of Swyampurna Bahu-Udeshiya Sanstha and her team made all out efforts to organise this expo and made it successful. It was decided by Kanchan Gadkari that under their NGO next expo will provide the opportunity to more women to showcase their capacity and will empower them on large scale to showcase their products. The exhibition is being visited by large number of people.
There is huge potential for Women entrepreneurship development in Vidarbha particularly in handicraft and hand-made products which are of unique quality. Up to 17th century, India was largest exporter in the world and major handmade products made from cotton, wood, jwellary etc. would be exported in huge quantity. These products were made by artisans spread all over India and cottage industries had flourished in those days. In present industrial scenario the MSMEs are second largest employment providing sector in the country and MSMEs are accepted as engine of growth and backbone of economy worldwide. In India MSMEs play significant role in economic development and Vidarbha is rich with natural mineral resources and hence it has high potential for the development of MSME sector.
