The value of textile and garment exports from Pakistan increased by 4.10 per cent in dollar terms in first four months of fiscal 2019-2020, compared to same months of 2018-2019.
During the period, Pakistan earned $* billion from textile and apparel exports compared to $* billion in July-October 18, according to the data from Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
The value of textile and garment exports from Pakistan increased by 4.10 per cent in dollar terms in first four months of fiscal 2019-2020, compared to the same months of 2018-2019. During the period, Pakistan earned $4.586 billion from textile and apparel exports compared to exports of $4.406 billion in fiscal 2018-19, according to data from Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
Category-wise, knitwear exports rose 9.49 per cent year-on-year to $1.054 billion during the first four month period, while exports of non-knit readymade garments increased 12 per cent to $906.663 million.
Among textiles, raw cotton exports fetched $12.213 million during the period under review, showing a slight increase of 0.78 per cent compared to exports of $12.118 million during the same period of the previous fiscal.
Cotton yarn exports showed decline of 2.14 per cent and fetched $384.553 million, as against exports of $392.948 million made during first four months of fiscal 2018-19. Exports of cotton fabric decreased by 4.83 per cent and were valued at $678.811 million during the first four months of fiscal 2019-20, while bedwear exports increased by 5.72 per cent to $817.665 million, the data showed.
On the import side, synthetic fibre imports were down 23.42 per cent to $144.948 million and imports of synthetic and artificial silk were down by 16.76 per cent to $163.550 million year-on-year. Meanwhile, the value of textile machinery imports by Pakistan decreased by 1.15 per cent year-on-year to $153.028 million during the period under review.
In fiscal 2018-19 ending June 30, textile and garment exports from Pakistan decreased by 1.42 per cent to $13.329 billion from $13.520 billion exports in the previous fiscal.
