New Delhi, Nov 28 (KNN) Union Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) on Thursday informed Lok Sabha that there are 8,643 MSME vendors in India under domestic defence production.

In written reply to a question, the Minister quoted a report by the Ministry of Defence, and informed the house about the numbers of MSMEs Vendors under domestic defence production sector.

Further, the Minister also informed about several schemes and initiatives which have been put in place to support MSMEs including those in the defence production sector which include  Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), Micro and Small Enterprises-Cluster Development Programme (MSE-CDP), Scheme for Promotion of MSMEs in North Eastern Region and Sikkim, Tool Rooms and Technology Centers,

Apart from these, the other schemes are Mission Solar Charkha (MSC), Scheme of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industries (SFURTI), Procurement and Marketing Support Scheme, Entrepreneurship Skill Development Programme (ESDP), Credit Guarantee Scheme for Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) and Credit Linked Capital Subsidy and Technology Upgradation Scheme (CLCS-TUS).

''The Ministry of Defence has also taken various measures to support domestic defence production across the country. These include Make-I and Make-II projects, Defence Investor Cell and Innovations for Defence Excellence (iDEX),'' said Gadkari.
