The first two-day Commissioners and Director Generals conference on Goods and Services Tax (GST) was held here recently under chairmanship of CBIC-Investigation-GST and CX Member SM Bhatnagar.

Central Excise and Customs Zone, Chief Commissioner of the Bhubaneswar GST Naresh Penumaka gave the welcome address at the meeting which discussed on the recently launched Sabka Vishwas (Legacy Dispute Resolution) Scheme. Besides, discussions were held on various aspects of GST including challenges faced by the trade and industry as well as the department in implementation of the new enactments and emphasis was laid upon to simplify the mechanism of GST and for facilitating Ease of Doing Business.

A promotional video regarding the scheme was released to create awareness amongst the erstwhile Central Excise and Service Tax assesses to come forward and avail the scheme to clear their tax dues to the Government to reduce the litigation.
