The Department of State Taxes, Nagaland has successfully recovered an amount of Rs7.82 crore (CGST, SGST).
The said amount was wrongfully deposited by MIS Gayatri Projects Ltd as IGST while filing the GST returns on 2007-18 for February-March 2017-18 and on 21.07-18 for April —May 2018-19, stated Kesonyu Yhome, Commissioner of State Taxes in a press statement.
The case was detected while examining the July 2018 IGST fund settlement statement received from the Centre. Upon detection appropriate adjudication processes was initiated by the jurisdictional authority leading to the recovery of the amount on May 6, 2019.
The recovered tax was CGST and SGST revenue, accrued during the return period of February-March 2017-18 and April-May 2018-19 respectively, added Yhome.
Therefore, the Department of State Taxes has advised all tax payers to file timely returns and make payments as per standing notifications issued by the department in order to ensure a seamless and robust tax environment in the State.
