Bhubaneswar: Over 15,000 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) units are lying closed in Odisha as per a survey conducted way back in 2006-07, state MSME minister Dibya Sankar Mishra informed the state assembly today.
Replying to a written question asked by Khandapada MLA Soumya Ranjan Patnaik today, Mishra said that as per 4th survey of Indian Industries, 15,315 registered MSME units were closed in the state. No fresh survey has been conducted thereafter.
The MSME minister said that by June this year, Rs 11407.05 crore has been invested in 3.96 lakh MSME units and 12.79 lakh persons have been employed in these industries. To promote MSME units, the state government has formulated Industrial Policy Resolution-2015, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Policy-2016, Odisha Food Processing Policy-2016 and Odisha Start Up Policy- 2016. However, the state government does not have any proposal for revival of the closed units, he said.
