LAHORE: War of words has erupted between the value-added sector of textiles and the spinning sector that is facing dwindling exports. There is no shortage of yarn in the local market; still the value-added sector demands a ban on yarn exports.

Offshoring of apparel manufacturing has been a blessing for many developing countries. The readymade garments (RMG) industry, employer of 40 million workers, mostly rural women, contributes more than 80 percent to Bangladesh's export revenue.
