The public may send their grievances as WhatsApp messages to 97000 41114.

Tiruppur District Collector K. Vijayakarthikeyan launched a WhatsApp mobile number for the public to send their grievances, here on Monday.

The public may send their grievances as WhatsApp messages to 97000 41114, Mr. Vijayakarthikeyan said. This initiative was aimed atmaking the “front-end process,” which was lodging grievances by the public, more convenient and efficient, he told The Hindu.

This process would follow four steps: Receiving grievances, distribution to relevant departments, follow-up on the action taken and feedback from the public, Mr. Vijayakarthikeyan said. A dedicated team at the Collectorate would monitor the grievances received through the mobile number.

Mr. Vijayakarthikeyan said that real-time governance meant addressing the grievances immediately without any postponement from the side of the officials. “We are opening up all modalities to deliver [the action] as quickly as possible,” he said, giving an example of issuing a community certificate on the spot for a candidate who was up for a government interview on Monday.

However, he said that the concept of real-time governance required a paradigm shift and it would take time for all the officials at the district administration to adapt and implement. “We will strive to penetrate this to all levels,” Mr. Vijayakarthikeyan said.
