Haryana Government on Thursday said it has allowed the reimbursement of State Goods and Services Tax (GST) on the entry to the exhibition of film 'Super 30' in theatres of the state, with immediate effect.

A spokesman of the Excise and Taxation Department said that the cinema theatres and multiplexes would neither make an increase in the amount of entry fee nor would make any change in the capacity of seats of different classes. The registered taxpayer (multiplex/cinema theatres), during the period of reimbursement allowed, would not charge State GST from the customers and the tickets will be sold at a price reducing the amount of State GST.

The tickets sold for entry to the exhibition of film 'Super 30' during the period, would bear prominently the words 'State GST not collected by the orders of the Government of Haryana'.

He said that the registered taxpayers of the multiplex/cinema theatre would file returns and deposit tax on the entry fee charged from the customers on entry to the exhibition of the film 'Super 30' from its own resources in a similar manner as being deposited for other films.

The State GST collected prior to the date of this order or collected after the date of this order would not be reimbursed. The Excise and Taxation Commissioner will issue guidelines separately regarding procedure for reimbursement of State GST. These orders would remain in force for six months, he added.

As per the orders, the Excise and Taxation Commissioner, Haryana has directed all the Deputy Excise and Taxation Commissioners (ST) in the State to ensure the strict compliance of these instructions and also send a compliance report on August 2.
