Tirupur: A day after a 30-year-old knitwear unit owner committed suicide due to financial hardship near Perundurai in Erode district, a 50-year-old businessman involved in yarn trading hanged himself in the city on Saturday.

He was identified as A Annamalai of Palayakadu. “Annamalai had been involved in yarn trading for several years. He had incurred Rs 90 lakh loss in the business recently. He had raised the issue about the failure of debtors in a trade body, in which he was the part of, but could not recover the money,” said a police officer.

A depressed Annamalai had left his house on Saturday, telling his family that he was going to his godown. He was later found hanging from its ceiling.

Tirupur north police have registered a case.
