Edakkara residents to get clothes of their choice for free.

Team Welfare, a relief wing of the Welfare Party of India, has opened an exclusive textile shop for flood-affected people at Edakkara. Everything is sold for free at the shop.

Instead of supplying clothes to the flood-hit at camps and houses, they are encouraged to visit the shop and select garments of their choice and taste.

Team Welfare volunteers have distributed coupons to residents of the area to obviate any misuse of the privilege.

The clothes sold at the shop were brought from across the State.

Inaugurating the shop at the old bus stand at Edakkara on Sunday, Welfare Party State president Hameed Vaniyambalam demanded that Kerala be declared flood-affected, and that the government formulate a new development policy by taking lessons from the disaster and laying stress on environmental perspectives.

‘Regulate constructions’

He said there should be a social control over all constructions in the State. “The government should implement the Gadgil report,” he added. Welfare Party district president Nasar Keezhuparamba presided over the function. Party district general secretary Ganesh Vaderi, Team Welfare district captain Arif Chundayil, and other leaders of the party were present.
